Hi, my name is Jesse Cogan! I’m a senior history major and archaeology minor at Carleton College. I am passionate about combining archival research, material culture, and digital mapping techniques to better understand and visualize the past. I am particularly interested in investigating the various ways individuals and communities have interacted with, made sense of, and marked out space throughout time.

While I love all sorts of history, my coursework at Carleton has focused intensively on the early modern period in Ireland. I am also fortunate to have been involved with a variety of archaeological projects. This includes two seasons working with Dr. Sarah Kennedy on Proyecto Machu Asillo/Llallahua where we explored processes of Inca imperial expansion and local resistance in southern Peru as well as one season with Dr. Alex Knodell on the Small Cycladic Islands Project where we carried out pedestrian survey on islets throughout the Aegean Sea.
